The Golden Retriever is one of the best rescue and assistance breeds for blind or disabled people, as they are characterized by being very obedient dogs. This breed was developed in the United Kingdom, in Scotland around the 1850s. Currently, the Golden Retriever is the third most popular breed in the United States and other countries. Let’s see what the characteristics of these friendly pets and companions are!

Instructions for the Golden Retriever

  1. The Golden Retriever is characterized by being a large dog with long hair. He is a very companion dog, especially with children; he is friendlyfaithful and very affectionate.
  2. If what you are looking for when having a pet is a guard dog, this breed is not the best for that, unless you educate it as such, but by nature they are more characterized by obedience and fidelity.
  3. The Golden Retriever is a breed that easily adapts to living in an apartment or small spaces, but like any dog, it is happier if it has a large space and a green space to play.
  4. It is recommended that this breed exercise every day or at least three times a week to lead a healthy life.
  5. The Golden Retriever has long hair, so it is recommended to take care of it, brushing  it once a day, with periodic bathing, and with the appropriate shampoo.  Take advantage of this because they love to bathe.
  6. They are not aggressive dogs, so you can be calm if a new member of the family appears that they will accept it without problem, as if a new pet appears in the family.
  7. They are animals that need a lot of attention, care and affection. That is why we recommend that you not only have a Golden Retriever as a pet, but have it as another member of the family. They are very sensitive dogs and need to feel loved by each of the people who live with them.
  8. As physical characteristics, the Golden has a broad headlarge and drooping ears, long golden hair, black nose, weight between 27 and 34 kg, the female is always shorter than the male. Female: 51-56cm and Male: 56-61cm.

  10. The Golden Retriever usually has genetic problems, so before getting one of these dogs, we recommend that you check that the lineage has not had medical problems such as eye problems, or dysplasia, for example.
