Instructions for feeding a hamster

  1. The first thing to keep in mind is that hamsters have a very delicate body, so if you give them something to eat that is not part of their natural diet, you could cause your hamster to get sick or die.
  2. The foods that we should not allow our hamster to consume are onions, garlic, hot peppers, parsley, legumes, celery, potatoes, radishes, sweets, junk food, and prefabricated foods with salt or sugar. These foods are very harmful and difficult for a hamster to digest, which is why we should avoid them completely.
  3. Meat is extremely harmful to hamsters. So under no circumstances should you allow a hamster to eat meat. If anything, we can give him some boiled chicken but not often, only very occasionally, almost never.
  4. The vegetables that your hamster can eat are chard, watercress, bean sprouts, pumpkin, zucchini, fresh shells and green beans, carrot leaves, beet greens, corn, turnip greens, raspberry leaves, peas, spinach and non-hot peppers. These foods are good for daily, but occasionally, we can give cabbage, asparagus, broccoli, carrots, beets, cabbage, cauliflower and cucumber, but not very often.
  5. Regarding the fruit, we can occasionally give it peach, peach, cherry, banana and kiwi.  More frequently we can give pears, blueberries, plums, raspberries, apples, blackberries, watermelon or papaya.
  6. We can also feed him seeds but only Almonds, acorns, chestnuts, hazelnuts, pistachios, and walnuts can be eaten as treats a few times.
  7. We should avoid giving him sweets, especially chocolates and bitter almonds. Sweets can seriously harm it, causing diabetes, obesity, being overweight, heart problems, and diarrhea, also causing a propensity for wet tail syndrome.
