The appearance of fleas in dogs is a very serious problem today. Fleas are parasites that appear on the fur of many animals and can be more than just a small animal.

This animal is the animal equivalent to human lice, showing up on dogs quite easily if care is not taken. Fleas have the downside of being biting and that they can transmit serious diseases with anemia.

Worst of all, fleas are also contagious to humans, since they also like to live in our fur and bite us, being able to transmit their diseases to us too, something that of course we don’t want.

In addition, they can also damage the animal, leaving it with very low defenses, which can end their health and even kill them, something that we do not want of course.

Getting rid of these little microscopic critters can be tricky. First of all, they are very elusive bugs, which can jump many meters and thus hide from you. Secondly, they are very small and cannot be seen with the naked eye and finally they reproduce very quickly by laying eggs, just like other parasites such as lice.

If we have detected that our dog has fleas, it is time to remedy them, for the sake of our animal’s health, for the sake of our health and of course, for the sake of house hygiene in general, since having parasites at home is always synonymous with a dirty house, something that your visitors will not like.

If you want to learn how to treat your dog’s fleas with home remedies, that is, without depending on medicines, you are in the right place, since I am going to teach you how to treat the fleas from your dog once and for all, without harming his health.

What do you need:

  • Flea comb.
  • Eucalyptus oil.
  • Beer yeast.
  • Lavender oil
  • Flea shampoo.
  • Garlic.
  • Common salt.
  • I think and food for high quality dogs.

Instructions

  1. Use a flea comb: The first thing you should do when treating fleas on dogs is to use a special flea comb. These combs are very similar to the nit combs that are sold in pharmacies to treat lice, only these are more adapted to the coat of dogs. These combs have very hard and close filaments that are there to catch everything that passes through there, including flea debris and flea eggs that are laid on the animal’s hair. By removing the eggs, we will prevent the fleas from reproducing and in this way, be able to eliminate them more easily.
  2. Treat fleas with lavender oil: Lavender oil is an ideal natural remedy to kill these small vermin, it works as follows, and first of all, you must drop lavender oil on the surface of the dog’s hair. , using a spray sprayer for this and covering the entire surface of the coat. The reason it works is that lavender is a natural repellent for insects and other animals such as fleas, since it is toxic to them. It’s simple, by applying a repellent; the fleas will leave your dog’s hair, thus getting rid of them forever.
  3. Treat fleas with brewer’s yeast: Let’s continue with another well-known home remedy, that is, with brewer’s yeast. This product has very good properties, the most outstanding being vitamin B1, which also acts as a flea repellent. There are two ways to use this product, first of all, you can spray it directly on your dog, so that the smell of it sticks and in this way the fleas flee. You can also give him a little brewer’s yeast in the diet, since this way the blood will change its smell due to the appearance of vitamin B1, causing the fleas to leave that place, something that is what we want to happen. To account for the smell of blood for the simple reason that if they bite your dog, there will be some blood left outside and they will smell the unpleasant odor for them.
  4. Treat fleas with eucalyptus oil: Another very good home remedy to get rid of fleas is the famous eucalyptus oil, known for its pleasant smell and its use to open the lungs in spaces such as saunas, as well as in these sweets. Breathe. Although we humans love this smell, it seems that fleas hate it for unknown reasons; therefore, putting a little eucalyptus essence on your pet can make the fleas leave that place, since they are going to hate that smell and they are not going to want to be where it smells that way.  Be sure to apply that eucalyptus oil regularly, so the smell doesn’t go away and the fleas don’t return to their old ways when it seems to be over and you relax.
  5. Buy a flea shampoo: A flea shampoo for dogs is a shampoo that contains products designed to repel and eliminate these dreaded vermin. You can get a good flea shampoo at any vet or pet store like Kimono to give an example of a pet shop. The way to do it is to apply the shampoo in your dog’s next baths and let it act for a short period of time, in order to let it act and that the dog’s coat has that anti-flea smell similar to that of home remedies. Also during that time, the shampoo will try to do two more things, firstly, to eliminate the fleas that are already parasitizing the dog and, secondly, to drag the nits that may be on the animal’s fur, making them not stick to the dog’s hair. Dog.
  6. Give the dog garlic to eat: How could it be otherwise, fleas also hate this smell, therefore, if we feed our dog a little garlic, we are going to make our dog’s blood change its smell and the fleas believe that they are in danger by drinking our dog’s blood in bites? He also gives the dog garlic to increase his immune capacity, so that he keeps his defenses high and opportunistic diseases do not act.
  7. Salt in the dog bed: This is a little known remedy, but salt is effective in killing fleas.  The reason is that the salt can make the fleas completely dry of water, which causes them to die of dehydration. Put a little salt in the places that your dog usually frequents, such as his bed or the place where he usually sleeps. The fleas will taste the salt and will end up dying in a short time, since they will have completely run out of water in their body, causing them to disappear and our problem with fleas is definitively solved.
  8. Good nutrition for your pets: Pets should always be well fed, with the main objective of being able to deal with typical disease problems such as colds and infections.  When there is a flea infection, feeding is even more crucial, since fleas lower the defenses of dogs and make them more exposed to opportunistic diseases such as the flu, which can end up killing your dog. For this reason, give your dog quality feed, abundant food with vitamins and feed him whenever he needs it. To prevent obesity in dogs, take your dog for a walk to exercise and feed him well, but do not spoil him, because if you spoil him, you will end up making the dog obese.

Tips

  • Apply all the remedies: A single home remedy in this article is effective; however, you will not be able to eliminate fleas using only one of the 8 home remedies to treat fleas.  For example, if you do not remove the nits with the special comb It doesn’t matter if you add lavender oil, since new fleas will appear over and over again, the same thing happening in reverse if you remove the nits but make sure the fleas do not go away, they will lay eggs again as soon as you are not careful. You have to apply all the remedies at the same time, so that the fleas are completely eliminated. If, for example, the dog is well fed, has natural repellents on its body, is bathed with the appropriate shampoo, the eggs are eliminated and it is fed with garlic, the dog will be flea free in no time.
