There is nothing sadder than going out on the street and seeing an abandoned animal, sick, suffering, and without love. Above all, this is very unpleasant when it has been the fault of irresponsible people that that little animal has ended up in that state. Many people have asked us how to cure mange in dogs, and they have told us that they have found little animals on the street and although they have all the will and heart to treat the problem, they have not achieved good results or do not have enough money to be able to afford effective treatment.

There are a few things to understand if we want to effectively eradicate mange from animals. To begin with, we have t understand that the use of many home remedies to eliminate scabies can be potentially dangerous if we do not know how to apply them or which treatments we should completely rule out. Nor can we let our little animal continue with this problem in the hope that it will solve itself and that little animal will recover from nothing, this is not going to happen in any way.

In fact, pretending that our dog is only cured of such a serious condition and not doing anything about it will only end up worsening the situation that our animal is experiencing. It is for this reason that we want to help you understand how to cure mange in dogs. We will be telling you step by step what you must do to achieve this goal, however, keep in mind that if you do not do this correctly and consistently, you will not be able to really help your dog.

There are many reasons that can lead us to prefer to care for a dog with scabies at home than to see it at a veterinarian. Often it is the lack of money that drives us to this. There is nothing wrong with wanting to treat it at home; however it is always a better idea to have the guidance and support of a veterinarian because if we do not have adequate knowledge about the disease, we could end up worsening the problem or generating more complications. The health of our dog.

The problem with many people trying to treat scabies at home is that they don’t know how to control the infection and how to stop it from spreading. Thus, even if they initially had the intention of caring for and curing an animal, they can cause others to be infected and the situation to get out of control. On the other hand, there is the problem that many “home remedies” put the animal’s health at risk. From applying pure sulfur on the skin causing burns to using burnt oil. Although these methods are used relatively frequently, it does not mean that they are advisable or effective; in fact they can be potentially dangerous and even deadly.

Worse still is realizing that due to the lack of awareness and responsibility of the owner, many animals are thrown out because they are sick and their illness could have been treated more easily if they had not been cruelly abandoned. But if we intend to give everything to help that little animal, then don’t let anything or anyone get you down. We want to help you learn which are the most effective methods to eliminate scabies once and for all with excellent results.

Although many believe that scabies is a difficult disease to cure, in reality it is not that complicated, we simply need to be constant and disciplined when it comes to caring for our pet. Understand one thing well, you are helping a life, you are helping a soul to heal from a condition that is possibly making living become something horrendous for that pet. The simple fact of knowing that we are helping someone, I think is enough incentive to get down working and solving the problem as soon as possible.

It will be necessary for you to use a calendar and several alarms to be able to remember the times in which the treatments have to be applied. Mange is not something that can be cured only with the use of medications, the way in which we treat the dog and the type of food and care that we are providing, all this will influence the way in which the immune system of the dog will react to various types of diseases. A poorly cared for and poorly loved dog will always be more likely to get sick than a petted dog.

What do you need to cure mange in dogs?

• Clotrimazole and betamethasone

• 100mg ivermectin and 20mg sulfur

• Neutral soap, oatmeal or antiseboreic

• Vitamin food supplement

• Healthy diet

• Bovitraz

Instructions to cure mange in dogs

1. The first thing we will do is bathe our dog with a mild soap. Some people choose to use sulfur soaps, treating an animal with mange, however this can be counterproductive for their skin, as their skin is already quite damaged by the mites that have nested under it

2. That’s right, in case you didn’t know, scabies are small mites that burrow into the skin and deposit eggs and other debris inside it, causing the skin to thicken, irritate and infect. For this reason, using a mild soap, preferably neutral, oatmeal or anti-seborrheic soap, is an ideal way to keep our dog’s skin clean while helping to relax it due to the constant discomfort resulting from scabies.

3. Remember to dry it very well and very carefully, use a soft towel or a hair dryer at medium temperature, it is important that we do not silence the dog’s skin too hard or we could make it even more irritated. We do this to remove old scabs and allow the pus to drain. Preferably in the bath water we are going to apply bovitraz. This product helps eliminate and control mange, fleas and ticks. We will apply 1 milliliter for every 15 liters of warm water that we will use to bathe the dog.

4. We will also get an ointment containing clotrimazole and betamethasone. Clotrimazole is a fungicide, that is, it kills fungi, which is why it will be ideal for your puppy’s skin infections, and betamenason is a topical antibiotic and anti-inflammatory that will help relax and counteract the bacteria of the infection. We will apply this ointment every morning all over the dog’s skin, emphasizing the areas most affected by scabies.

5. The other ointment that we are going to need is called 100mg ivermectin and 20g sulfur. This ointment will literally kill the mites that are damaging the skin of your dogs and, in turn, regenerate the skin. We will apply this ointment every night, ensuring that there is a minimum of 12 hours between the application of the ointment with clotrimazole and betamethasone and this one with 100mg ivermectin and sulfur. Thus each ointment will be able to act long enough. Remember that this must be applied every day until 15 days after you notice that there is no longer visible scabies on the dog.

6. Another thing of utmost importance is the dog’s diet. We must provide a diet high in protein, essential amino acids and vitamins. Buying vitamins for dogs, the kind that are for their beautiful hair, is a good option, also quality croquettes or chicken.

7. Finally, it should be noted that we must spend time with our dog even if we control the areas where it is so as not to infect other animals, we must play a lot with it. Pamper him and not keep him too isolated, no more than necessary. Let him sunbathe, move, play, etc. If his mood is low he could suffer from immunosuppression and this will allow the scabies to continue to grow and be more difficult to treat as well as any other type of disease.

Tips to cure mange in dogs

• There are also ivermectin injections to end scabies, they serve to complement treatments and are applied once a week. The amount depends on the weight of the dog, but they are not recommended for all dogs, so it is good to ask for veterinary advice.

• Although we are giving you these instructions and they are quite effective, we are in no way going to replace the opinion of an experienced veterinarian, which is why we advise you to consult a veterinarian before starting this or any other treatment.

• It is not recommended to use car oil to “cure” your dog. Although the oil has the function of killing mites, it can cause infections in the dog’s skin or intoxication, especially if the dog ingests the oil when licking itself. If we insist on using oil, we can use olive oil that works just as well and without being so harmful to your health.
