How to remove a tick and knowing what the consequences of a tick bite are is something extremely fundamental because we are living with pets or in an unhygienic environment. Of the invasive parasitic animals such as bedbugs, fleas, cockroaches and ticks, although all these animals have a potential danger due to the diseases and health problems they can cause, ticks are undoubtedly especially dangerous and difficult to kill. Remove.

Some of the complications that a tick bite can cause to our health are the transmission of pathogens that can lead to health problems, developing diseases and affecting our body. From unpleasant itching and blood loss to the development of anemia, because these animals are capable of sucking even more than ten times their body size in blood alone. Therefore, when an animal is constantly attacked by these animals, anemia is common. In addition to that, other worse discomforts such as immunosuppression, paralysis and toxicities, may be present in tick victims, the latter two being possible causes of death in small animals and illness in children.

Ticks are not animals that we should get used to living with and think that they are as worthy of living in our house as we are. As open as our philosophy about animal love is, it is necessary to respect the limits that nature has drawn for us. It is clear that being bitten by a tick and, in general, living with this type of parasite, can end up causing very serious problems.

To this we only have to add the simple fact that visiting a house full of pests is not at all pleasant, much less recommended, since we could be spreading the plague to our own homes or possibly spreading ticks to the people with whom we live. As are our friends, colleagues, children, family and relatives.

Instructions for removing a tick

  1. The first thing we have to know is how to remove or how to remove a tick from our pet.  Believe it or not, removing a tick is not really easy; in fact, if you do it wrong you can end up complicating the situation. Ticks can hook their heads into our skin and leave it inside, even if you’ve killed the tick and ripped it off yourself.
  2. You should keep in mind that there are many methods to remove ticks. Some of these methods range from the use of herbal infusions to bathe our pet and kill these animals that invade their skin, to the use of alcohol and oil or crinoline to kill ticks.  However, many of these methods can be extremely harmful to the skin of our pets and even worse for us.
  3. Therefore, unless you or your pet is heavily infested with ticks and you have exhausted all possible options, the ideal is to find a less aggressive way to eliminate these animals. We do know that an animal is sucking blood and its bite can make you prone to various health problems, it can be really stressful, but getting desperate and acting inappropriately can make the situation worse.
  4. Ideally, look for small tweezers or pliers. Those that are for plucking eyebrows are ideal. The first thing we have to do is locate the place where the tick is. If you notice that the tick is not attached, then simply grab the tick with the tweezers and put it in a glass of alcohol so that it dies and does not infect more people or animals. You can also put it in a jar while it is alive so that it can be analyzed later and find out if this animal and its bite represent a risk to your health, such as the transmission and generation of diseases.
  5. But instead without noticing that the tick is attached to the skin, what you have to do is lift the body of the tick very carefully not to crush its head or kill it. If you only remove part of the body and don’t remove the head, the fangs will still be embedded in your skin and there will still be a risk of infection. That is why we have to lift the body of the tick well and without pressing too hard on the pliers, we are going to try to remove the pliers from our skin in the same direction in which the fangs have fitted. If we do it from the opposite side we could break its head and leave its fangs embedded.
  6. You may not be able to get a good grip on the tick in the first few attempts, so you have to measure the level of force and be constant until you can get the tick off you.  After this you can put it in the bottle of alcohol that we have told you about and continue with the process throughout the body until this animal is eliminated. The next thing we have to do is apply an antiseptic where all the wounds are, this will slightly reduce swelling, itching and help reduce the risk of infection.
  7. The use of ointments can also help us reduce the discomfort resulting from the tick bite. For both humans and animals, there are various products that we can use to speed up the healing of these bites and to prevent these animals from continuing to attack us.

Tips for removing a tick

  • Remember that ticks are potentially dangerous animals for our health. We can’t just let ticks into our house and imagine that one day they will go away on their own. Even if you think there are few ticks in your house, you have to get to work as soon as possible and start deworming your house and your pets.
  • Bathe your pets periodically, use repellents and collars for animals to prevent the plague from continuing to grow.
  • Wash and disinfect your floors and furniture constantly, preferably using bleach from time to time. There is no insect that can survive bleach, especially those that are fleas, bed bugs or ticks.
  • Avoid those parks and areas where you think there may be ticks, especially if there are many trees.
