This dog is a Dog of Tibet, that is to say, this is its origin and it is where it was born. The Shitzu is a dog that is territorial, but affectionate and that needs certain special care in some parts of its body, such as its eyes.

This means that to take care of this dog you cannot do it like any other dog , since you first have to know a couple of things about it in order to be able to treat it in the right way.

Today we are going to teach you everything you need to know to be able to take care of a Shitzu dog, something very useful if you have adopted one or plan to do so in the future, since this way you will always guarantee the best care.

Instructions for caring for a Shitzu dog

  1. I deal with people: The first thing you have to know about the shiatsu dog is that it is a dog that likes territoriality a lot… By this I mean that we are not dealing with the friendliest dog in the world, but rather we are dealing with a dog that is quite surly, quite unfriendly to outsiders and that will defend your house tooth and nail. That makes him a fantastic dog as a guard dog, however, there is the problem that he is a dog that is not going to be able to see the visitors of your house. That if, what you have to do is bring people little by little, so that in the end they stop barking and be happy, since in the end they will stop being a stranger to that person and they will respect and love them, just like who loves you and other members of the household. It really is as if it took him a long time to gain confidence, however, when he does, he is a good dog.
  2. Take him for a walk: This dog is one of those dogs that like good walks, that is, they need a good amount of physical exercise every day so that they can carry out all their activities in the correct way. For example, you have to take it out about three or four times a day, with fairly long walks, about half an hour. In these walks the dog will do his things and after that, he will walk a little, burn the calories from the food and also get a little sun, a source of vitamin D. Of course, if you give him a walk, let it be a walk of walk, no sitting on a bench all afternoon, but walk the half hour that you take the animal out so that it can always have a good amount of physical exercise every day.
  3. Feed him: Like all living beings, the shiatsu dog is a dog that has to eat every day, otherwise it will die. This dog eats a little of everything, however, the ideal food is vegetables, a little meat and a little dry food, which must be especially for small dogs. If you give him another type of feed, he will not want it or he will gain too much weight, since, for example, large dog feed has many calories for small dogs. For this reason, if you give him the feed for small dogs, he will not gain weight, something very important since these dogs usually have a slight tendency to gain weight with which we must obviously be very careful, since an obese dog is a prone dog. To disease and ill health.
  4. Take care of his hair: This dog has one of the most beautiful hairs of all, since it is a hair that everyone wants to caress when you see it because it is undoubtedly beautiful and we all like it in one way or another. However, it should not be neglected at all, because although this hair is always beautiful, great care must be taken to make it as beautiful as possible. What we have to do is brush it at least once a day, something that will allow us to make our dog look better than ever, since well-brushed hair is shiny hair, hair that has great aesthetics and finally it is a hair that everyone will like to touch, caress and observe. Do it gently, since people who do it too hard make a mistake because the dog does not like this, but what he likes is that you do it very slowly and gently.
  5. Veterinarian: The veterinarian is like the dog’s doctor, that person who is going to be in charge of guaranteeing optimal health and your little one. This health professional is in charge of managing everything related to your shiatsu dog and for this reason; you must comply with the visiting regimen. The vet is a person who must be visited at least once a year for what is called an annual check-up, in the same way that people usually do or at least I hope they do, because they should. In this checkup, they will see if the dog is in good health and if he is in good health in general. If he has a problem, the vet can take care of this animal and if he doesn’t have it, he can advise you to keep it that way. He also monitors the vaccination schedule very well, which helps us to have good health and avoid all possible diseases in this dog.
  6. Eye hygiene: These dogs have a problem and that is that these animals have very sensitive, delicate eyes and can develop some ailments there. What you have to do to avoid them is to wash them a little with water every two days, thus ensuring that the purring does not have any dirt or dirt accumulated inside them. Do it with a damp and very soft cloth, so that the purring can have clean eyes but do not do any damage.  Of course, with general hygiene you do not have to be so strict, since in these cases it is really enough that you bathe the dog every month and a half or two months, something that is enough for it to be very clean, since doing less means lack of hygiene and doing it more involves damage to the animal’s skin that we cannot afford right now.
  7. Give him a lot of affection: Although we have said that these animals are not very affectionate at first contact because they are territorial, it does not mean that they are bad dogs when they know you well, that is, that they really are very affectionate in their own way. Shitzu dogs must be cared for very well, but they must also be given a lot of love so that they can have an optimal state of mental health, since they need a lot of love. Needless to say, you have to be nice to them too, not laying hands on them and just squabbling a little when they do something wrong, but never hitting. This will make the dog love you very much and make it very happy, something very important without a doubt.
