Fish require a large amount of energy to be able to move from one place to another, since water is 900 times denser than air. Although most are designed in the shape of the body for a smoother ride through the water, and have multiple fins to help propel and steer as needed, they rely on a good diet to keep them moving. Necessary energy.

Some species of fish spend their time at the bottom of the sea, in the form of camouflage, which helps them hide from their predators, saving energy. There are fish that are from cold waters and other tropical fish, which are from waters with higher temperatures. Generally, those that need to eat more food are those of cold water, because they need more energy to withstand the cold.

In nature, we can observe   a great spectacle when the bigger fish eat the smaller ones.  For example, the case of sardines, which generally swim in large groups, made up of millions of these fish who look like a cloud.

These large clouds are sniffed out by sharks, whales, dolphins and other large predators of the sea. These predators approach little by little to surround the cloud of sardines and corner them in small spaces. Then, they open their big mouths to eat them, and the sardines try to evade the attack by always swimming together.

Usually, some fish such as sardines are the main food for many marine species found in the world’s large oceans. Even the need to produce fish for human consumption in large artificial ponds has also increased, due to the demand for their meat.

These are of great benefit for their nutrients and for the production of fish oil better known as omega 3. In captivity, sardines need large amounts of food, since when they are growing they are fed up to 4 times a day with concentrated food, so that they have rapid and optimal growth for human consumption.

Many people are also breeding varieties of goldfish in aquariums or hatcheries at home, but not for nutritional purposes. These fish are very beautiful and they adorn our houses in a very beautiful and natural way, since just by seeing them we can relax.

Many of this variety are being marketed throughout Spain, since with a little investment we can have several goldfish aquariums or hatcheries, feeding them with special dry food for them.

That is why it is important to know and know what the fish eat, in order to have a good production for nutritional purposes or to have healthy and very beautiful pet fish.

Instructions

Here are some tips to take care of and feed your fish correctly:

  1. In an aquarium you cannot have cold water fish and tropical water fish living together.
  2. According to their species, each one of them needs a suitable climate for their best feeding.
  3. On the other hand, there are fish that feed on the surface, others in the middle of the aquarium and others at the bottom. This happens like this in nature; therefore, you must have this knowledge to be able to give a correct diet.
  4. Also, fish eat different types of food. Many brands of fish feed are for sale on the market.
  5. You must be very careful with the amount and type of food, because if you go over the amount, you will greatly affect your fish.
  6. Take your forecasts. You can overweight them and they can get sick and even die;  water can even be contaminated by excess food.
  7. Processed food, for fish that eat at the surface, generally when you put it in the water,  it stays floating for a long time so that the fish can easily take it, chew and eat it.
  8. The food for fish that eat in the middle part is designed so that when you place it on the surface it will slowly fall in particles of different sizes, so that your fish can take it and chew it in the middle of the aquarium.
  9. The food that is made for bottom fish falls quickly to the bottom, as they make it heavier.
  10. Each type of processed food has different characteristics and preparation formulas for each species, in order to give them the best nutrition.
  11. On the other hand, we have fish that eat algae. They need to eat a lot of algae, as they have many vitamins.
  12. For aquariums, there are many varieties of algae, which, when placed, reproduce inside them. These are very good to feed your fish.
  13. Of course, you have to be careful to control the algae, because if you do not fill the entire aquarium with algae, obstructing the space for the fish to swim well. It is like the weed that grows in the forest, you must be careful to control it and keep it beautiful in your aquarium.
  14. Another very good way, depending on the variety of your fish, is to feed it with  fingerlings of other species, to provide them with a little amino acids and proteins.  These nutrients keep the fish healthy and beautifully colored, as it gives them a lot of strength.
  15. Remember that in nature big fish eat small fish; in addition, some even consume crustaceans and mollusks.
  16. In other cases, where fish are reproduced on a larger scale, in large ponds or hatcheries, the amount of food must be greater.
  17. The type of food for large fish farms is usually bought by the bag and is made with many calories and vitamins, which are also available on the market in large factories separately as supplements.
  18. This type of large-scale fish feeding, you can also do it at home. You can make them food such as corn flour and ground fruits; always depending on the types of fish you are going to produce, since some species eat more specific foods.

What do you need:

  • Food for surface fish.
  • Food for food from the middle part.
  • Food for the lower part of the aquarium.
  • Cornmeal.
  • Concentrated feed for fingerlings and fry.
  • Weigh small ones such as fingerlings and fry.
  • Shellfish.

Tips

  1. Never add pieces of raw fish or other meat to your aquariums, as it contaminates the water and makes the fish sick.
  2. We recommend that you feed your fish several times a day, and that the amount of food is very little. This will help them have better digestion and keep their digestive system active.
  3. Also, this technique will help you keep your aquarium clean, because although it should always have a water filter, if there is a lot of food left; it will decompose and contaminate the water.
  4. If the water is contaminated, you should remove the fish as soon as possible, clean the entire aquarium and replace all the water, placing new filters.
  5. To change the water, you must add a substance known on the market as anti-chlorine. As the drinking water that comes through the pipe has large amounts of chlorine, it can also affect the health of your fish.
  6. After doing all this procedure, you place the fish in the clean water and observe them very well for about 20 minutes.
  7. If the fish has been very affected by the polluted water, it will begin to swim strangely bottom-up and float.
  8. To solve the above, we recommend that you take it out of the tank and place it alone in another tank and add a few drops of methylene blue.
  9. This is so that the fish recovers and the other fish do not bother it, since many times the fish will attack it.
  10. Finally, does not put ground bread or pieces of bread in the aquariums as some people do; this contaminates the water a lot.
  11. The bread has a lot of yeast and this greatly affects the digestive system of the fish and its intestines, causing many discomforts.
  12. Some people think that fruit or pieces of cooked food like chicken or rice can be thrown into the water.
  13. Do not do it this is a big mistake that can make your fish fatally ill and cause death.
  14. Neither are pieces of cheese or some dairy products they are not designed to consume these foods.
  15. Always try to buy good food brands, it doesn’t matter if they are a little more expensive and you spend a few more euros, but give your fish quality.
  16. This way you will give your fish a longer, healthier and healthier life and they will thank you by showing you the best of their lives.
  17. Place a thermometer so you can monitor the temperature of the water in your aquarium and if they are tropical place a heater.
  18. Make sure your tank has good lighting so they can see the food when it’s time to add it.
  19. Do not put the food on your fish with your hands since many people use creams and contact with the food contaminates it.
  20. Visualize that all the fish eat the same or similar amount since many of them go without eating.
  21. This happens when you have a lot of fish in the same aquarium, leaving some without eating.
  22. You must use a teaspoon to add the food and when removing it and cover the container well so that bacteria do not enter.
